So what kind of player are you? Are you content to play the game as the designers designed it, assuming that the information given in game is all you’ll need to be a good player? Do you enjoy grouping with theorycrafters who know their class so intimately that they can give you their crit chance down to the 6th place after the decimal? Do you think they really are ‘better’ players, or just more knowledgeable? Do you think that MMO developers need to work harder to expose the math behind the game, or leave it to the theorycrafters? How concerned are you with research – do you have a second monitor up so that you can browse WoWhead while you play? Do you use addons like QuestHelper, Cartographer, or Atlas? (Please note, I’m not passing judgement on any types of player, nor am I stating that if you don’t do research you won’t be as skilled, so don’t get defensive.) I’d love to read some thoughts on this. =)
