Look at things like leveling guides. Granted, you don’t need these in order to play the game the first time, but they are extremely helpful for someone leveling up their second or third character. Since before WoW even released, Thottbot has been the premier wealth of information (although players seem to favor WoWhead more, I’m interested in hearing the monthly traffic for both sites). My first time leveling, some quests were almost impossible without me looking up Thottbot (although that was in 2004, things have definitely improved). If I wanted to calculate my talents and make a plan for my character by looking at other people’s builds, I’d have to use Thottbot or CTprofiles. If I wanted to see what sort of enchants are out there that people could put on my gear, I’d need to look it up. Nowadays, when I want to see what the pvp rewards are for various arena seasons and battlegrounds, I look it up. When I want to know what the difference is between Aldor and Scryer, I’d have to look that up too. .
